COMPANY > ABOUT ALTIBASE Altibase is a DBMS specialist that develops and supplies data management solutions, such as MMDBMS and hybrid DBMS, that have tangible strengths in the area of real-time processing. In 1999, Altibase had the Main Memory Database Management System technology (MR.RT) transferred, and developed an MMDBMS (Main Memory DBMS) offering superior real-time data processing. It has been making its presence in the communications and financial sectors, in which the need for real-time data processing is acute. In 2005, to achieve this kind of real-time data processing and handle and store large amounts of data using a single DBMS, Altibase released a hybrid DBMS, integrating main memory database management technology, our core technology, with DRDBMS (Disk Resident DBMS) technology, attracting public attention once again. ALTIBASE Hybrid DBMS is the only hybrid DBMS in the industry that can provide both MMDBMS and DRDBMS in a single DBMS, thereby processing large amounts of data in real-time. This system can be deployed as an MMDBMS, as a DRDBMS, or as a hybrid system, and is therefore useful in all fields in which DBMSs can be found. In step with changes in the IT environment, such as the popularization of the Internet and advances in the reach and speed of networks, the need to process large amounts of data in real time has greatly increased, and hybrid DBMSs have begun to proliferate rapidly. In particular, as its scope of application has extended to all areas and transactions requiring DBMSs, Altibase's hybrid DBMS has become a new candidate for a universal DBMS. In addition, penetration into the general DBMS market has provided Altibase with new business opportunities related to data management. We listened to customers' demands, namely: ‘How can we integrate data scattered in various DBMS on different platforms and improve efficiency?’ and ‘How can we transmit, process and store rapidly increasing amounts of stream data?’ and accelerated our efforts to develop solutions that would satisfy these demands. After a couple of years’ R&D, Altibase succeeded in developing ALTIBASE Data Integrator, which enables data integration and interworking between homogeneous/heterogeneous DBMSs, and ALTIBASE Data Stream, a solution for the real-time processing and transmission of stream data, the amount of which is rapidly increasing these days. Altibase offers solutions based on a paradigm shift in the field of data processing in order to enable real-time processing of all of the internal and external data that corporations need to handle.
